Linux installation guide

Before downloading

Experimental portable x86-64 package built on Ubuntu 24.04 (glibc 2.39). A graphical desktop and compatible system are required. This is neither an ARM build nor a Linux audio driver. System dependencies vary by distribution.

Installation

Extract the archive and run the executable as a regular user without sudo. If libraries are missing, on Ubuntu check libportaudio2, libxcb-cursor0 and libxkbcommon-x11-0. Keep the _internal directory beside the executable. Read README.txt and THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt in the package.

A virtual input for your chat

To send voice and soundboard audio to another application, configure a virtual destination in PipeWire or PulseAudio and route Vocero playback to it with a tool such as qpwgraph or pavucontrol. Choose your physical microphone as Vocero’s input, enable Hear myself to include your voice in playback and select the virtual destination’s monitor as your chat input. Do not feed that monitor back into Vocero: it would create a loop. Use headphones.

Discord and limitations

Disable Discord’s Krisp and echo cancellation to prevent sound clipping. Automatic VB-CABLE installation and Windows startup are Windows features; Linux routing is manual. Include your distribution and version when contacting [email protected] about problems.
